Eunique Kollection is a personal style blog curated by Eunice Kim, that features EKlectic styles of fashion, writing, and content. As a wardrobe stylist, social media marketing coordinator, graphic designer, and photography enthusiast, Eunice finds inspiration in all things creative and in the art of creating. At a young age, Eunice found passion in art through her 2nd grade elementary class, where her teacher promoted art exercises to help students learn and replicate famous artists such as Jackson Pollack, Georgia O'Keefe, and Van Gogh. Since then, she was in love with creativity. Fast forward to today, she implements her passion in her fashion blog, which she posts on a weekly basis that features her own personal style that, at times, is accompanied by a rhymetastic poem/story. Sometimes they're witty, most times they rhyme, and at times, they don't make any sense at all. But that's the beauty of art. It's not supposed to make sense. It's supposed to make you feel. And that's the main premise of her blog and her life. Check her out at www.eunique-kollection.com!
When did you start your fashion blog and what inspired you to start it?
I started my blog late 2014 and was inspired by the upsurge of personal style blogs that first popped up on the scene. I've always been a photography enthusiast, loved taking photos, and love fashion, so when I saw others doing it, I thought, "Why not me too?" I first started posting looks on Instagram and when I started gaining more traction, people suggested I start a blog and that's what got me to pull the trigger on this ongoing project. Now my focus has shifted and is now more than just a fashion blog. It's a platform where people can witness glimpses of the real me--mostly through my writing--and hopefully through my artwork (coming soon!)
How would you describe your personal style?
EKlectic and always weather appropriate
Who are some of your favorite style icons and why?
Style icons: Olivia Palermo, Rihanna, Shea Marie (@peaceloveshea), and Kendall Jenner. Speaking of Kendall, I absolutely ADORE how Monica Rose (@monicarosestsyle) styles her clients! She's not necessarily a style icon, but her clients always are. As a wardrobe stylist myself, I respect her grind AND her impeccable style selections!
What is your current career and how do you balance work with your fashion blog?
I do social media marketing and graphic design for a women's fashion brand (@mileyandmolly). I'm on retainer with them so I update their social media on a daily basis, but do so from home (kind of like freelance, but on a consistent basis). Currently, I'm studying for my GMAT exams so that I can move onto getting a MBA graduate degree. Blogging takes a lot of time (from conception, to shooting, to editing, to posting), so I find it hard to focus on my studies while I have the daunting task of needing to update my blog.
Are there any trends you are loving?
Since "Winter is coming" (*cue Jon Snow*), layering pieces in an artful and creative way is the trend I'm looking forward to the most. This past summer we've seen the off-shoulder trend go viral everywhere, so I think it'll be interesting to see people layer those pieces with turtlenecks or long sleeve tops. Also, suede seems to be trending already based on NYFW street style shots.
What are your favorite stores?
Bloomingdales and Topshop
What is your style pet peeve?
Bad graphic tees and ill-fitting pants
Your closet is about to self-destruct, what three things would you save and why?
Do I have to choose only 3?! I would try to salvage my entire closet even if it means burning a bit of myself! But if I really had to choose...I would choose my: (1) Chanel bag : why? Chanel. That's self-explanatory, (2) my leather jacket: because I can wear it every single day, (3) a thrifted shirt with a giraffe on it: because I've had so many great memories and meaning attached to it. My boyfriend's nickname is "Giraffe" so you can kind of get why.
Do you have any advice for girls who want to start their own fashion blog?
Yes! Always remember C.C.C. : Consistent Content Creation. It's a lot easier to say than to actually do and it's something I struggle with all the time, but if you can consistently create new content for your blog and do it in an artful, creative, or unique way, your blog will naturally gain traction and people will notice.
